Arcsoft-be-Gone V3 released.

So, It’s been a while since I updated the Arcsoft Remover Cab file.
here’s a new one, it’s still in BETA, I had a few issues with it on my phone to start, but it should be pretty clean now.
It’s a “Universal” as in, works with unlocked GSM variants on the T-Mobile network right now. I’ll release an AT&T variant as well.
Basic gist:
If on Verizon, install .cab (You may need to use an advanced task manager like ArkSwitch or MemMaid to kill Transport.Exe first)
Then load up a registry editor, browse to HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\MM1\WSPHeader and find the key “X-VzW-MDN” (And find WSPHeader2 and do the same thing)
Peck in your phone number WITHOUT dashes (Example, a number of 1-321-654-0987 would be 3216540987 in the key)
(While you are there, change “Default” to CDMA in the “MM1” key a few steps above (Under DefaultSetting))
If you can’t send messages, you may need to go into your SMS\MMS app and hit the menu button, press MMS Options, scroll to CDMA servers, make sure that VerizonMMS is set to default (you may need to tap on it) and also make sure that when you click on it, the little scroll box says that it is using Verizon instead of “The Internet”

if any of that confused you, You can ask me for help and I’ll try to walk you through it.

Available at: Downloads Page

Again, let me know of any issues and I’ll try to fix them. I’m currently using the Verizon one on a daily basis and it seems to work fine. Just thought I’d share.
(Please donate if it was worth some monies, I’m a poor college student and monies help alot)

Changelog:
V3.1: Fixed some registry key issues. Should work properly again.
V3: updated Arcsoft MMS version to a newer version (Hybrid CDMA\GSM which also allows global roaming)
V2: new method for getting Arcsoft MMS installed, Updated to newer version, fixed shortcut issues.
V1: Initial release. Just a bunch of fixes rolled into one .cab file. Kinda worked, but not well.

I have LG Fathom unlocked for use with Tmobile. I really need MMS messaging to work on this phone, and I read you were currently working on a Tmobile fix on the Fathom. Have you had any luck getting it to work for tmobile?

I will be releasing an update to the T-Mobile one later today. I found the combined set of fixes needed to get it to work with a no-data contract. Should work with normal T-Mobile Data as well.

I read your software guides on LG Fathom. I am using Battlinesvc . Very good . Thanks. . Everything function in the WM 6.5.3 version 4 that came with the LG Fathom is working OK here in INDIA . I tried different GSM SIMs, one with 2g and another with 3G from our national Carrier BSNL and found the phone and internet working OK. Though I am new to Win Mob thanks to others and your posts I am now downloading and installing apps using MS activesync on my win XP netbook.

But I have a problem with the sms send function. — The sms replies or sent messages don’t go to the numbers they are addressed to.

This is one thing I couldn’t fix even after installing the Arcsoft Remover V2 . Any suggestions ?

My patch shouldn’t have any effect on contacts. Not sure what exactly is wrong with the configuration on your phone that would cause those issues.

The sent sms was not reaching the numbers/contacts even before I applied the Arcsoft Remover V2. So you are right . Your cab file puts a text link on the menu which actually opens the Arcsoft messager app which works as usual — the sms doesn’t get to the sent contact but It shows in the sent folder . I’m still figuring this out. Any help is welcome!

When I removed the AR v2 program it also removed the text link and the message balloon link that came with WM 6.5.3 v4 menu. When I reinstalled AR v2 all the links came back but the Arscsoft App was not actually removed.

I browsed to HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\MM1\WSPHeader but could not find the key “X-VzW-MDN” in my phone (same with WSPHeader2 ) , so I am still looking for more info .. !

      Suggestions anyone ?

      • pizzaboy192 says:

It sounds like you might have one of my slightly buggy versions of the remover. V3 would be a better suggestion, as it is known to work properly. (Tested on both CDMA and GSM networks)
You can get the V3 from my downloads page and see if that helps. I don’t use V2 anymore, so I can’t help you much with it. Sorry.

  4. KR says:

V3 verizon or tmobile (which one is the fix for INDIA ?) won’t install without permissions……still trying to get the SMS to send correctly…..!

  5. pizzaboy192 says:

The T-Mobile one is for all GSM networks, but you will need to manually enter settings. To get v3 to install, you need to use a process manager (arkswitch, memmaid, etc) and terminate the transport.exe process before installing. Then you won’t have a permissions issue. It gives that error because it cannot modify open files.Hope that helps.

  6. KR says:

I used Arkswitch to terminate transport.exe , installed V3 and rebooted. The V3 Arcsoft removal worked finel. Thanks. The native app does a lot more !

Now I am still to resolve my messaging problem —- The SMS is coming in, but the sent reply or forwarded message is not reaching the contact.

What is the fix for that?

    • pizzaboy192 says:

It sounds like it is mostly an issue with your carrier. Can you try your SIM card in another phone and see if it works properly in it?
It might be that you’ve got a mis-provisioned SIM, or something of that sort. Not exactly sure what is wrong since I am using Verizon as my carrier, and T-Mobile works fine.
      Sorry.

  7. KR says:

I found that the SMS is delivered correctly to an Indian Mobile no. (any carrier) if I punch in the mobile number directly. If I use the SIM or Outlook contact the SMS doesn’t reach the contact ! This is a step forward. Still figuring why the contacts won’t work…… for SMS.

Sounds like you need to set your country code. Should be easy to find instructions online.

I left a message on the above link at an LG Mobile Forum. and the reply is also. I’ve done many searches on changing region settings.. but no luck so far. Does update V5 or V7 have regional settings for India. Where do I find such info. on a patch that does the trick ?

  10. pizzaboy192 says:

The v5 and v7 ROMs do not have India settings. From what I can tell, the problem lies in the country code. Windows mobile assumes a +1 if you have us English and do jot specify a country code. It seems the solution is to either change the default country code (which I assume is in registry) or add it manually to each contact.

Thanks for having this still available (I used the original way back when!). I had a partially corrupt filesystem (invalid characters in folder names) and couldn’t delete them. I factory reset my phone, then ran a Sprite restore and settings did not restore in regards to ArcSoft. I had to rerun the ArcSoft killer, all good. :)

It was weird too, the phone would light up, but I couldn’t get texts/MMS.
